SportingSmiles Description

If you habitually grind your teeth and wake every morning with a headache and pain in your jaw, you need a mouth guard. SportingSmiles has a range of custom products that have a goal of protecting your smile, take away the pain and prevent further damage to your teeth. While custom made, SportingSmiles guards are affordable and priced reasonably while still offering high quality expected from a custom made guard.

There are six different mouth guards to fit all individual needs. The process is simple and fast and with a little effort, bypassing expensive dentist’s visits, you can have a great fitting, comfortable mouth guard that will make your teeth grinding problems a thing of the past.

How it Works?

1.       They will ship the self-impression Kit (Explained below).
2.       Take impressions at home. Mail back (Please watch the video below on how to take impressions at home).
3.       They will make the custom teeth-grinding guard and ship it back to you.

So it all starts with a self- impression kit which you will receive in the mail:

With simple instructions, the kit allows you to take accurate impression of your teeth and send it to the SportingSmiles dental facilities.

The Self Impression Kit contains:

  • Set of impression material (Part A & B)
  • Adjustable impression tray (Fits all sizes)
  • Return bag
  • Instructions pamphlet
  • Return form
  • Prepaid postage return label

The quality of the impression will depend on your careful reading about each step, so follow instructions to the letter.

  • Step 1 – Make sure that your teeth are clean before taking the impression.
  • Step 2 – Adjust the tray so that it fits your mouth perfectly. The tray can be adjusted by pulling the upper and lower half apart. You can also snap off pieces of the plastic at the rear of the tray to make the tray smaller. Make sure that your teeth are centered in the impression tray.
  • Step 3 – Mix parts A and B of the impression material vigorously until the mix has uniform color. Try to do this as fast as possible, in about 20 seconds.
  • Step 4 – Roll the impression material into a four to five inch tube.
  • Step 5 – Place it into the tray and press the tray firmly to your teeth. The teeth should be settled evenly in the impression material.
  • Step 6 – The material will harden in about four minutes. Try not to move during this time. Once the material is hard to the touch, you can remove it.
  • Step 7 – Remove the impression tray by pulling it up or down in a single motion.

The company has a full time lab technician, who has more than 15 years experience. He will be the one to make your mouth guard from the impressions you sent. The technician is supervised by a qualified dentist with more than 30 years experience. Highly skilled staff ensures the exceptional quality of the mouth guards made by SportingSmiles.

Customer Reviews:

How to Choose the Right Guard For Me?

Before deciding which night guard is the best for you, you need to learn more about your particular type of bruxism or teeth grinding. While some guards are designed for preventing the grinding, others are more suitable for preventing clenching. On the other hand, some are made to work with both problems.

  • If you suffer from teeth clenching:
    • Light clenching => Dual laminated Guard (No. 3 / No. 4 – Back cut)
    • Heavy clenching =>Flexible Super Hard (No. 1 / No. 2 – Back cut)
  • If you suffer from teeth grinding:
    • Light grinding=> Hard Grinding Guard (No. 6)
    • Heavy grinding =>Flexible Super Hard (No. 1 / No. 2 – Back cut)
  • If you suffer from both clenching and grinding:
    • Light clenching & light grinding => Dual laminated Guard (No. 3 / No. 4 – Back cut)
    • Heavy clenching & heavy grinding => Flexible Super Hard (No. 1 / No. 2 – Back cut)
  • If you don’t know / not sure => Flexible Super Hard (No. 1 / No. 2 – Back cut)

Most people find that an upper guard is more comfortable than a lower guard. The reason for that is that the upper guard comes into much less contact with the tongue. Some people claim that the lower guard allows them better sleep. While both upper and lower guards provide the same protection for your teeth, it is up to you to decide which type of guard you find more comfortable.

Features:

  • All night guards are custom-made in a certified dental lab
  • The production of guards is supervised by a qualified dentist
  • The teeth impressions are made by a customer in his own home from provided materials, using clear, simple instructions
  • Clients can reorder if not satisfied with the final product
  • Six different types of guards ensure that there is a model suitable for any type of teeth clenching or grinding, regardless of severity.
  • All guards are BPA, BPS, DEHP, and latex free
  • 30 day satisfaction guarantee

Pros & Cons:

Pros:
  • Custom made for each client, but much cheaper than custom guards made by dentists;
  • Six options for all types and severity of teeth grinding and clenching;
  • Simple impression kit ensures perfect fit.;
  • Free shipping and fast delivery;
  • Discounted reorder within a year (If you ordered your first guard within the last year, they can use your original impression to make you a new one at 30 percents off standard price);
  • Each customer gets a 30 day satisfaction guarantee

Cons:
  • The quality of teeth impression depends on each customer and on careful reading of instructions;
  • Impersonal, online ordering without direct consultation with the dentists. The much lower price, and the qualified dentists’ supervision more than compensates for that.

Faqs:

How can I choose the right guard for me?

Start by learning more about your particular type of teeth grinding or clenching: how hard you grind, do you grind your teeth all the time, do you grind and clench at the same time etc. Some guards are made to protect your teeth from grinding. Others are more suitable to protect you from the consequences of clenching. Some work for both. For example, Soft Night guard works for both clenching and light grinding. Single Layer Hard Night Guard is made for people with light grinding. Dual Laminate Night Guard is perfect for heavy grinding and moderate clenching. Hard Flexible Night Guard is the best solution for severe grinding and clenching.

What is better: upper or lower night guard?

Both guards provide the same protection, and it is very much a matter of preference which one you should order. Most teeth grinders prefer an upper guard than a lower guard. One reason can be that the upper guard comes in less touch with the tongue, and is therefore more comfortable. Some people prefer the lower guard because they think it makes them sleep better.

Can a child wear a custom night grinding guard?

Custom guards ordered online are not recommended for children under 16. For various reasons, it is important that teeth grinding and clenching should be diagnosed, and treated, by a dentist.

What can I do if I ruin my teeth impression?

It is possible to spoil your impression if you allow the mix of materials to harden before pressing it to your teeth. Sometimes it does not come out well from the impression tray. In that case, contact the manufacturer and you will receive the replacement dental kit free of charge.

How can SportingSmiles make night guards so much cheaper than dentists?

Dentists do not make night guards. They make an impression in their office and then send it to a qualified lab. The SportingSmiles has its own certified lab, and the impressions are made by the customer, what drastically cuts the costs.

Are SportingSmiles guards BPA Free?

All SportingSmiles dental guards, as well as other dental products, are BPA, latex, BPS and DEHP free.

How long can I expect my night guard to last?

Depending on the severity of grinding and type of dental guard chosen, the guard can last from six months to five years.

How long can I expect to wait for my new night guard?

It takes about two business weeks for a new night guard to be made and shipped from the time the manufacturer receives your impression.

What is RUSH or Expedited Order?

Expedited or RUSH order means upgrading your shipping to a priority mail. Instead of two weeks, you can expect to get your order in one week.

Do they ship internationally?

Yes, and it is also FREE of Charge. While prepaid postage you receive with your kit works only in the US, all you have to do for international shipment is simply to mail your teeth impressions to the manufacturer at your cost. Keep in mind that international shipping can be slow and lengthy, so be patient.

Can I reorder another night grinding guard if I had one before?

They keep all impressions for one year. If you ordered your first guard within the last year, they can use your original impression to make you a new one at 30 percents off standard price.

Is there a guarantee with the SportingSmiles Night Guard?

Each customer gets a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. If for any reason you are not happy with your new guard, you will get a new one free of charge. All you need to do is return the original guard back to the manufacturer.

    This is the best teeth grinding guard for the price. I started with a day guard and now ordered the night guard as well, directly from Sporting Smiles.

    I have lost recently my night guard made by my orthodontist that I paid $150. I replaced it with SportingSmiles guard. I tried before some products of comparable price from the drugstore, but they were so bad it was pathetic. This one is as thin, comfortably fitting and durable as the expensive one from the orthodontist

    This guard is much thinner than the one made by my orthodontist. I still have to see if it survives heavy grinding.

    My guard arrived without any instructions in the kit, so I had to learn how to use it online. But, once I figured it out, it was great!
